Five areas of the Primary classroom
Practical Life
Pouring, dressing, food preparation, cleaning, and caring for the classroom. Through purposeful everyday work, children grow in independence, concentration, coordination, and a real sense of responsibility.
Sensorial
With beautiful hands-on materials like the Pink Tower, Color Tablets, and Sound Cylinders, children refine each of their senses and learn to observe, compare, classify, and bring order to the world around them.
Language
Beginning with spoken language and the Sandpaper Letters, children build vocabulary, phonological awareness, and comprehension, moving naturally into reading and writing through carefully sequenced materials and individualized lessons.
Mathematics
With concrete materials like the Golden Beads, children develop a strong understanding of quantity, number, place value, and operations, gradually moving from what they can hold in their hands to abstract mathematical thinking.
Cultural Studies
Science, geography, history, nature, art, and music open the wider world to children. Puzzle maps, leaf cabinets, and timelines make the abstract tangible, nurturing curiosity, respect for others, and an understanding of their own place in the world.
From Toddler to Primary, a natural next step
A child's Montessori journey at Pristine can begin as early as 18 months in our Wobbler and Toddler community, where independence, coordination, language, concentration, and confidence take root through hands-on experience.
Around age three, children step into the Primary classroom, a community designed for ages three to six. It is a natural progression: children are ready to explore more advanced materials and to develop greater independence and concentration. Here they experience the five core areas, learning at their own pace while growing in social-emotional confidence, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning.
The mixed-age three to six classroom is at the heart of it all. Younger children learn by watching older classmates, and older children practice leadership, cooperation, patience, and responsibility. Because children coming from our Toddler room already know Montessori routines and expectations, the move to Primary is a joyful, exciting next step, the continuation of a child's journey toward becoming a capable, confident, independent, and caring learner.
Why the kindergarten year matters most
In a conventional school, kindergarten is one year. In Montessori Primary, the kindergarten age child is the elder of the community, a role that builds confidence, leadership, and a deepened mastery no peer group can replicate.
He returns to materials he knows and finds new depth. He mentors younger children without being asked. He takes on longer, more abstract work with real independence.
This is the year families most often call transformative, and the year the investment in a three year program pays off most clearly.
Three uninterrupted hours
Deep concentration requires time. Most classrooms interrupt children every 20 or 30 minutes. Our three hour morning cycle lets children move through many rounds of choosing, working, finishing, and returning materials. That rhythm builds real focus.
There are no bells. No forced transitions. The guide observes, presents new material to individual children, and allows the room to hum at its own pace.
Ms. Marianne AMI Certified

Ms. Marianne holds AMI certification from the Association Montessori Internationale, the most rigorous Montessori training there is. This is what "authentic Montessori" means at Pristine: not a curriculum labeled Montessori, but a guide who trained in the original tradition and applies it every day.
She practices what she teaches. Many of the classroom materials were built by Ms. Marianne herself, and she continues to invest her own time and resources in maintaining and extending the prepared environment.
Parents describe her as warm, exacting, and deeply committed to each child as an individual. Ms. Payal assists in the Primary room and is learning the materials under her mentorship.

Frequently asked questions
What does the kindergarten year look like?
It is the year everything comes together. Your child leads the community, reads and writes with confidence, works with the golden beads and the bead chains, and takes on long projects with real independence.
Is there a separate Pre K program?
No, and that is on purpose. Primary is one three year community for ages 3 to 6. Each child works at his own level within the same classroom.
How does my child learn to read?
Through sounds first. Sandpaper Letters teach the sound and shape of each letter by touch, the Movable Alphabet lets children build words before they can write, and reading follows naturally.
Can my child start mid year?
Yes, when there is space. Because the classroom is mixed age, a new child is welcomed by older children who already know the routines.
What if my child is ready for kindergarten early?
She simply keeps going. There is no ceiling in the Primary classroom, and Ms. Marianne follows each child's readiness rather than her birthday.
